Biography

Prentist (Wilson) Sutherland was a New Mexican.

When Letha Prentist Wilson was born on April 13, 1931, in Magdalena, New Mexico, her father, Jesse, was 37, and her mother, Emma, was 30. She married Robert Ivor Sutherland in July 1951 in Reno, Nevada. They had three children during their marriage. She died on September 17, 2007, in Citrus Heights, California, at the age of 76, and was buried in Santa Rosa, California.

Prentist's father died in a car accident in Albuquerque when she was 5 and her mother was pregnant with her brother Jesse. The family moved from Pie Town, New Mexico to Oklahoma where there were relatives of the family. She moved out to California in the 1940s. Her mother worked at the ship yards in San Bruno as a welder.

Prentist always went by her middle name. Prentist was a family name. Her father's sister was named Prentis and going back in her tree, she has Prentiss and Prentice relatives. Her parents, for some reason, spelled her name with a 'T' at the end.

Bob and Prentist met at Eimac, Div of Varian Associates in San Bruno, California. They lived in San Mateo, California for about 50 years.

After her husband died, Prentist lived with her daughter for a year, then moved into a home in Citrus Heights. She was a diabetic and died of liver cancer.

She was cremated and is at Santa Rosa Memorial Park in Santa Rosa, California. ^[1]
