Biography

John Williams was born about 1812 in Madley, Herefordshire, England^[1].

In 1841 he was 23, a blacksmith like his father, living at Madley, Herefordshire, England with his parents James and Sarah and his siblings James and Elizabeth. Thomas Skyrme, later to marry his sister Elizabeth, was living there. There is also a Charles Garrett age 3 living with them, but no parents. As the 1841 census does not give relationship to head of household we do not know who this is. There are no Garrets in the family tree of Carol Weston[2]. ^{[2] [3]}.

In 1851 he was living at Madley, Herefordshire, England ^[1]

In 1861 he was unmarried, a blacksmith employing 1 boy (which might have been his nephew James Skyrme who at 14 was also a blacksmith) and the head of household in Handley Cross, Madley, Herefordshire, England, United Kingdom. He was living with his sister Elizabeth Williams (1815-), her husband and their four children. ^[4].

In 1871 he was living at Madley, Herefordshire, England ^[5].

In 1881 he was head of the household, still unmarried, a master blacksmith and living with his two nephews, Jamesand George Skyrme who were also Master Blacksmiths at Madley, Herefordshire, England, United Kingdom^[6].
