James Williams was born in Abbey Dore, Herefordshire, England.

James Williams was born about 1776 in Herefordshire, England ^[1].

In 1841 he was 54, living at Madley, Herefordshire, England with his wife Sarah and their family; John, James and Elizabeth. Thomas Skyrme, later to marry their daughter Elizabeth, was living with them. There is also a Charles Garrett age 3 living with them, but no parents. As the 1841 census does not give relationship to head of household it is not known who this is. There are no Garrets in the family tree of Carol Weston^[2].

In 1851 he was 75, living at Madley, Herefordshire, England, United Kingdom with his son John (27) and Thomas Skyrme, (42) now married to James' daughter Elizabeth (39). also present, together with their children ; James (5), Thomas(2) and Sarah (0). There was also a Thomas Thomas (33, boarder) and Charles Garrat (12, lodger) residing with them. Charles is probably the same individual as in the 1841 census. ^[1].
