Biography

Orrin V. Wilder was born at Athol, Massachusetts, on 29 Oct 1859, the son of George Wilder and Nancy J. (Washburn) Wilder.^[1] He was living with his parents at Athol in 1860 at the age of 1^[2] and in 1865 at the age of 5^[3] and at Alstead, New Hampshire, in 1870 at the age of 10.^[4] In 1880, Orrin V. Wilder, 20, laborer, was living at Alstead with his widowed mother and his three brothers.^[5]

In 1900, Orrin Wilder, 40, hostler, was living in the household of John L. White at Winchendon, Massachusetts.^[6] In 1920, Orrin V. Wilder, 60, farmer, was living at Alstead with the widow Jamie Elliott, 73, a servant.^[7] In 1930, Orrin V. Wilder, 70, farmer, was living at Alstead with the widow Mary J. Elliott, 77, housekeeper.^[8] In 1940, Oran B. (sic) Wilder, 80, farmer, was living alone at Alstead.^[9]

No record has been found that Orrin V. Wilder ever married or fathered any children. His death certificate says that he had never married.

Orrin V. Wilder, recorded as 97, retired farmer of Alstead Center, New Hampshire, died from arterio-sclerosis complicated by senility at Marlow, New Hampshire, on 31 Dec 1955.^[10] His grave marker in the Wilder family section at the Alstead Center Cemetery is inscribed with the dates 1859-1955.^[11]
