Sarah Ann Wilder was born at Athol, Massachusetts, on 3 May 1855, the daughter of George Wilder and Nancy J. (Washburn) Wilder.[1][2] She was living with her parents at Athol in 1860 at the age of 5[3] and in 1865 at the age of 10.[4] In 1870, she was living with her parents at Alstead, New Hampshire, at the age of 15.[5]
Marriage
Sarah A. Wilder, 20, of Alstead, New Hampshire, and George E. Newman, farmer, 28, of Gilsum, New Hampshire, married at Alstead Center on 29 Sep 1875.[6][2]
In 1880, George E. Newman, 30, teamster, and his wife Sarah A. Newman, 25, were living at Gilsum, New Hampshire, with four boarders.[7]
There were no known children from the marriage.
Death
Sarah (Wilder) Newman died from "organic disease of brain" at Alstead, New Hampshire, on 29 Mar 1884, with her age at her death recorded as 28 years, 10 months, 6 days.[8] Her gravestone at the Gilsum Village Cemetery in Gilsum, New Hampshire, is inscribed with the dates 3 May 1855 and 29 Mar 1884.[9]
