Job Wilder was born about or before 1706 in Lancaster County, Virginia. Job is the son of Nathaniel Wilder and Nathaniel's second wife, whose name is unknown. (NOTE: Sarah Philips is not the mother of Job Wilder. Sarah Phillips was the first wife of Nathaniel Wilder and was the mother of Michael Wilder.).
Job Wilder was married before 1729 to Elizabeth. Elizabeth signed waiving her dowry rights to land Job sold in Lancaster county, Virginia in 1730.[1]
Job is named in the Will of his father, Nathaniel Wilder. Nathaniel's will leaves bequest to: wife, whose name is not given, sons: Hopkins, William, Michael, and Job; and daughters: Sarah, Catherine and Darkis (Dorkis).[2]
Job Wilder was in Edgecombe County, North Carolina by 1740 with his brothers Hopkins and William Wilder. Job WILDER receives a 400 acre land grant in 1745.
19 November, 1751, Job Wilder, Edgecombe County, North Carolina, sold to David Cooper, Edgecombe County, for 7 lbs, 100 acres on Peach Tree Creek, part of a grant to Job Wilder on 20 Apr 1745. Witnesses were Samuel Williams & William Goodin. Recorded in Edgecombe County Deed Records 4:155. Margaret M. Hofmann. Abstracts of Deeds, Edgecombe Precinct, Edgecombe County, North Carolina 1732 through 1758 (1976), p 121).
Job Wilder died about or before 1762 in Johnston County, North Carolina. Job left a minor son Michael Wilder in Johnston County, North Carolina Court Minutes 1759-1766, page 47 - 1762, "Then an Orphan Court was open'd, Michael Wildeder orphan of Joab Wylder return'd by D. Wright".
NOTE: The "Wilder And Connecting (Especially Ware) Families In The Southeastern States", Third Edition, 1969, by William Murtha Wilder (referred to here as the "Wilder Book"), on page 231, states that Job Wilder is a son of Michael Wilder and Ann Culpepper Wilder. This information is not correct, Job Wilder is the son of Nathaniel Wilder and Nathaniel's second wife whose name is unknown. Job Wilder married before 1729, probably in Lancaster County, Virginia, Elizabeth Jones.
