Biography

Simeon/Simon was probably born in Scarboro, Maine. It may have been Cornish or even Parsonfield, but the latter is unlikely.^[1] Further to this discussion, "Colonel Simon Jordan Whitten, was the eldest son of Richard and Mercy (Jose) Whitten and was born in Scarboro, Maine. His parents soon after moved to Cornish, Maine, then to Parsonfield, and in 1833 they removed to Troy, Maine, where Mr. Richard Whitten died, June 3, 1845. Richard's occupation is given as a Stage Coach Driver as well as being a military man.

Simon married Mary B. Pike, "Oct. 25, 1810 Simon Whitten of Parsonsfield to Mary B. Pike of Cornish."^[3] and they were the parents of 14 children:
