In Memoriam: Todd Whitesides was an active and generous member of WikiTree. Their presence in our community will be missed. However, their many contributions will live on as part of our shared family tree. This is a gift they gave to family members, distant cousins, and future generations, and is now a permanent part of their legacy.
1982 This year marked the beginning of my genealogical journey. It began by questioning my great-grandmother Emma (Babcock) Leffler about her family background at my birthday dinner. I then began attending meetings of the Southern Indiana Genealogical Society at New Albany, Indiana, and using the research library of The Filson Historical Society in Louisville, Kentucky, both in the company of my grandmother Luetta (Deitchman) Crenshaw who was also instrumental with assisting me to visit the sites where our ancestors lived and traveling to courthouses and churches in Kentucky and Southern Indiana to research firsthand.
In my younger days
In my younger days
1989 Changed my last name to Whitesides through the Probate Court in Louisville, Kentucky. My grandparents, Nelson Raymond Whiteside and Sola Luetta Deitchman, divorced when my father was a youngster and his last name was changed to that of his step-father, Frank Louis Crenshaw. I decided to use the spelling my great-grandfather Walter Duncan Whiteside(s) did before 1920 with the final -s.
With my parents.
As a Teenager
1991 This year I made my first breakthrough on one of my German ancestral lines, locating the place of origin for my 4th-great-grandparents, Johann Michael Hillerich and Anna Apollonia Ritter of Louisville, Kentucky. I still have the correspondence and original photocopies received in 1991 and 1992 from Pfarrer Dr. Karl-Heinz Drobner who kindly responded to my letters of enquiry.
At Cherokee Golf Course
1998 Moved to Covington, Kentucky with my partner Richard Porter and have lived in the Historic Licking Riverside Neighborhood ever since. Much time has been spent photographing and researching the historic cemeteries in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, especially those favored by German immigrants who settled in such large numbers throughout the Ohio River Valley.
With Richard
2004 Nominated by James Gough Edelen, Jr. and Crolian William Edelen, I was invited to join the The National Society of Descendants of Lords of the Maryland Manors, and was accepted as Member #390 in right of descent from Cuthbert Fenwick, lord of St. Inigoes Manor and Fenwick Manor. My application with its supporting documentation was reviewed and approved by the society's official genealogist, John Frederick Dorman. I have a handful of other Maryland manorial lords as direct ancestors as well, including William Boarman, lord of Boarman's Manor, William Bretton, lord of Little Bretton Manor, Robert Brooke, lord of De La Brooke, Brooke Place, and Brooke Court Manors, and Thomas Matthews, lord of St. Thomas' Manor.
With My Mom
2021. Became a member of the Germanna Foundation, Locust Grove, Virginia. I have long been an admirer of their publications which gave me an excellent example of genealogical scholarship when I was in my formative years in the 1980s. My great-grandfather Walter Duncan Whiteside(s) is descended from several of the families from Nassau-Siegen who were part of the original 1714 Germanna Colony and the later Little Fork Settlement.
Todd Whitesides
2022 Spent much of my research time this year learning about the history and records available for Baden. I discovered a lot about the ancestry of my 3rd-great-grandfather Remigius Bührle (1816-1898) from Niederschopfheim, my 3rd-great-grandfather Daniel Götz (1826-1911) from Ichenheim, my 4th-great-grandmother Catharina Barbara Schlichter (1820-1877) from Zeutern, my 6th-great-grandfather Martin Seidner (1733-1806) from Grünenwört, and my 6th-great-grandmother Anna Margaretha Adelmann (1734-1816) from Sonderriet. Also began working my way through the Kirchenbücher for Mensfelden in Hessen, the birthplace of my 4th-great-grandfather, Philipp Jacob Deußer (1815-1874), and adding his extended family to WikiTree.

My magic has been slowed down during the last four months due to health issues. Still going through a lot with doctor visits and procedures but I've been returning to WikiTree in recent days for some diversion. Hopefully I'll be on the mend during the next few weeks and can get back to some serious research. Hope all is with you.
Kind regards,
Todd

I think I sorted out most the issues between Hamilton-15821 and Hamilton-9338 this morning. I ran out of energy last night. Thanks for restoring the links to the proper children, sorry I left that undone last night. Hamilton-9338 still needs LNAB corrected to Thompson but the profile manager will need to update it. If you notice errors please feel free to fix any mistakes I missed.

Aren't we somehow related to Claudia Sanders? Her profile has no connections.
Thanks, Laurie
