Background: I became interested in genealogy in about 2003, when my great-uncle Don brought his research to a family gathering. My research efforts have ebbed and flowed over the years, but I built up a rather extensive tree on Ancestry.com. Now I'm here at WikiTree to fine tune my information and to contribute to the greater family tree we're building here.
Puzzles I'm working on: White Paternal Line, Taylor Paternal Line

Crystal was born in Iowa in 1975. She married in 1997, and had one son. (Details are left out for privacy of family members.)
She is (so far) a lifelong Iowan, an avid reader, and and a dedicated family historian. She hasn't traveled a lot but plans to start more... and you can at least partly blame a passion for genealogy, as some of the next planned trips include spots from her family origins!
I've found some fascinating connections through WikiTree! The following are some of my famous ancestors and cousins... just for fun, of course, and using the best knowledge and resources currently available!
U.S. Presidents: Cousin to the Roosevelts, Jefferson, Madison, Fillmore, Nixon, John Quincy Adams, and more. (More are connected through a line that's currently in question, so I'll leave them out for now.)
Magna Carta Barons: Through my McCasland line, I have seven direct Surety Baron ancestors who signed an oath to the Magna Carta agreement, as well as many other Barons and "Illustrious Men" (counselors to King John) who are listed as distant cousins.
Scottish Royalty: This one is my favorite branch. :) I have eighteen direct ancestors who held the Scottish throne between the 9th to 15th centuries. The most recent is King James II of the Scots (Stewart-1166) as my 17th great-grandfather.
This category lists many more Scottish kings and queens as distant cousins. A personal favorite is that MacBeth is my first cousin 29 times removed. Yes, that MacBeth. :) (There are additional royal relations outside Scotland including Plantagenets, Eleanor of Aquitaine, Louis IX, and back to Charlemagne.)
Famous Women in History: I feel fortunate to count among my distant cousins some of history's strongest women, including Abigail Adams, Amelia Earhart, and some of the original suffragettes, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony.
It's fun to see a "Who's Who" version of one's ancestry, but it's also exciting to find much closer relations that I'd have never otherwise met. The closest is a new 3rd cousin with whom I've exchanged some emails!
Kits completed at Ancestry.com and at 23 & Me. I've confirmed DNA with my child, my parents, all four of my grandparents, and six of my eight great-grandparents, plus a few beyond.
Featured Eurovision connections: Crystal is 34 degrees from Agnetha Fältskog, 26 degrees from Anni-Frid Synni Reuß, 25 degrees from Corry Brokken, 23 degrees from Céline Dion, 28 degrees from Françoise Dorin, 29 degrees from France Gall, 31 degrees from Lulu Kennedy-Cairns, 27 degrees from Lill-Babs Svensson, 24 degrees from Olivia Newton-John, 31 degrees from Henriette Nanette Paërl, 25 degrees from Annie Schmidt and 22 degrees from Moira Kennedy on our single family tree. I haven't been very active in the USSC project (or in anything to do with genealogy) for the past few months, but I am hoping to dive back in very soon. I'd like to stay on the project for now if possible.
Thanks! Crystal
A Private Message was sent earlier in response to your expressed interest in joining the Wales Project.
Sorry not to have heard from you. Are you still interested in becoming a member?
Can I provide any assistance?
If you have decided not to join. please let us know any reasons. It could be of benefit to the membership process.

I'm sorry, I meant to respond to that message. I am interested, but due to time constraints I think I'm going to put off joining for now. May I get in touch with you in the future? Thank you!
Crystal
In the future, just answer the welcome post on G2G just as you did before and the process will begin again.
As the welcome post may be changed, link to it from the Wales Project page.
Stuart
Thanks for having a Big Heart and adopting Orphan Profiles. You will want to read this After adopting orphans FAQ to understand what to do next and it explains the special attention those profiles need.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
David
Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.
Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

We are so happy you decided to upgrade to the Family Member level.
Please visit our tutorial pages to learn how to use WikiTree: How To Use WikiTree. They will save you time, energy, and frustration as you add your family profiles.
Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.
Questions? You can always use the G2G link in the Help Menu to find answers.
