Biography

James Wheeldon Sr. was a Kentuckian.

Based on the date of his death and his age at death,^[1] his calculated birth date is 7 April 1799. James was born in Kentucky, the son of John Wheeldon Sr. and Catherine (Vial) Wheeldon

Marriage: He married Selah “Celia” Falconbury (also spelled Falkenbury), daughter of Jacob Falconbury, on 20 Dec 1825 near Stanford, Lincoln Co., Kentucky. After marrying, they relocated to Decatur County, Indiana by 1831 where they raised their family and remained till their last days. By 1831 he and his family had removed to Decatur County, Indiana. He is recorded as having purchased land.^[2]

They had eight children together (all born in Indiana):

In 1850, James Wheeldon, a farmer, lived in Sand Creek, Decatur, Indiana, with his wife Selah “Celia” and 7 youngest children ( his eldest daughter, Rachel Jane, had married in 1847 and was living with her spouse).^[3]
