John West migrated from England to Canada.

John West migrated from Canada to United States.

John had emigrated to Canada by 1848, when he married Scottish-born Isabella Holmes on 28 November in Gore, Canada West.^[2]

The family had moved to the United States of America by 1863, when their youngest child was born in Michigan. In 1870 they lived in the Township of Wales, St Clair, Michigan. John was a farmer, owning real estate worth $3,000 and a personal estate of $1,000. The couple's children were:^[3]
