Meta Vaux Warrick Fuller was an American sculptor, notable for celebrating Afrocentric themes. She also painted, designed theater sets and wrote poems. Before being known in her native country she was already a well-known sculptor in Paris, where she was a protégée of Auguste Rodin.[1]
Meta Vaux Warrick was born in 1877 in Philadelphia, the daughter of William and Emma (Jones) Warrick. She had two older siblings, a brother, William and sister, Blanche. Her father was a barber.[2]
Meta married Solomon Carter Fuller in 1909 in Philadelphia.[3] The couple lived in Framingham near Boston, Massachusetts, where Solomon was a practicing neuropathologist.[4] They had three sons, Solomon, William, and Perry.[5][6]
She died in 1968 in Framingham, Massachusetts. [7]
