Joseph Warren was born before the 22 May 1627, cattle division.[1] He was the son of Richard Warren and Elizabeth Walker. Married: Priscilla Faunce, about 1652 at Plymouth.
Joseph Warren, Sr. died May 4, 1689, in Plymouth, Massachusetts. [2] Joseph is buried at Burial Hill on the highest point on the shoreline of Plymouth, where the "First Fort" built in 1621to protect the pilgrims. Burial Hill is the second cemetery in Plymouth, preceded by the Coles Hill Burial Ground. The exact date as to when this ground became used as a cemetery is not known. There are no written records of the earliest burials. The earliest grave markers were made of wood, and none exist today. The site was used as a fort from 1621 until 1676. The earliest engraved headstone marks the grave of Edward Gray, who died in 1681. There are only 7 headstones that precede 1700. [3]
Joseph Warren made his mark on his will dated 4 May 1689 and proved on 4 September 1689 in Plymouth. He mentions his wife Priscilla, and his children, Joseph, Benjamin, Mercy Bradford, Patience, and Elizabeth. His inventory is dated 15 May 1689.[4]
