Biography

Joanna Dorothea Sophia Walters was baptized on 17 March 1796 at Saint Maria Magdalena Catholic Church in Goch, Rheinland, Prussia. Her parents were Theodorus Walters and Joanna Holtermans.[1]

Dorothea Sophia was married to Joannes Gerardus Schraven. They had the following children while living in Broekhuizen, Limburg, Netherlands.

  2. Child: Joannes Sijbertus Jacobus Hubertus Schraven, b: 1824
  3. Child: Anna Maria Wilhelmina Huberta Schraven, b: 1826

  5. Child: Mechtildis Petronella Hubertina Schraven, b: 1829
  6. Child: Jacobus Gerardus Hubertus Schraven, b: 1831

Research Notes

Have not been able to find a marriage or death record for her using online sources in the Netherlands. I believe both Gerard and Sophia were living in a town in Germany at the time of their daughter’s marriage. A search of church records there may yield results.

Husband, J. Gerhard Schraven was the Burgemeester (Mayor) of Broekhuizen from about 1825 through [1830? source for date needed].

Search for Joanna Dorothea Sophia Walters at FamilySearch.org led me to this indexed record source: "Deutschland Geburten und Taufen, 1558-1898," database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NV2W-HSZ) : 10 February 2018), Joannam Dorotheam Sophiam Walters, 17 Mar 1796; citing ; FHL microfilm 174,388. From there, I was able to find the baptism entry image sourced above at Matricula Online.
