Biography

Mary Hannah Wales was born in 1872 in Philadelphia or New Herrington, Durham, England to William Wales and Elizabeth (Aisbitt) Wales. Her birth was registered in Houghton Le Spring, Durham in the third quarter of the year, with mother's maiden name Aisbitt.^[1]

In 1881 Mary H Wales (age 8, Scholar) lived at 40 Railway Terr in New Herrington, Herrington West with her father William (2, Coalminer), mother Elizabeth (33), sister Dora (4), brother William (0), and grandmother Hannah [Aisbett] (66).^[2]

In 1891 Mary H Wales (age 18, Out Door Work) lived at 40 Railway Terrace in West Herrington with her father William (41, Coal Miner), mother Elizabeth (43), and four siblings: Dora (13), William (10, Scholar), Alexander (7, Scholar), and Florence A (2), as well as her grandmother Hannah Aisbet (74) and cousin Jane Wales (18).^[3]

Mary Hannah Wales (age 24, Spinster, daughter of William Wales) married Thomas Thompson (age 28, Widower, son of Robert Thompson) on 3 Jul 1897 in West Herrington.^[4] The marriage was registered in Houghton Le Spring in the third quarter of the year.^[5]
