Jamie (J.J.) is the only child of divorced parents, and the last of her line of Wade's. Her son carries on the Wade family name through his middle name.
J.J. spent her early years just outside the city of Chicago, Illinois, near O'Hare airport. Following her high school graduation, she enrolled at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Communicative Disorders. It was at NIU that she crossed paths with B. Becker, her future spouse, leading to their relocation to the city of Las Vegas, Nevada. During her time in Nevada, J.J. pursued a post-baccalaureate degree in Elementary Education at Western Governors University, coinciding with the birth of her son.Subsequently, her family moved to central Missouri, where J.J. initially spent time as a 5th-grade teacher. However, the challenges posed by the recession prompted a shift in her career trajectory. Undeterred, J.J. returned to academia, this time at the University of Missouri, earning a Master of Education in Educational Technology.
The family relocated once more, this time to the suburbs of Saint Louis, Missouri, where J.J. applied her skills as an instructional designer for a leading commercial refrigeration corporation. Underscoring her commitment to education, she pursued a Master of Arts in Education in Library Media from Lindenwood University. J.J. then returned to public school education as a school librarian, spending two years teaching K-6 students in a Saint Louis county school.
Seizing a new opportunity, J.J. embraced a role at a smaller rural school just outside the Saint Louis suburbs, where she has served as a high school teacher-librarian for the past seven years. Her dedication to continuous learning is evident in her ongoing pursuit of a Ph.D. in Library and Information Management at Emporia State University, with a focus on Archival Studies—an area inspired by her deep interest in genealogy and preservation.
In her free time, J.J. enjoys teaching color guard, playing oboe with the local community college band, photography, and reading. And, genealogy. Obviously.
Speaking of genealogy, J.J. has been interested in her family history since she was given papers with her grandfather's family lineage when she was around 11 or 12 years old. As the last of her line, she is extremely interested in where her family came from, and continues to dig deep to get the answers she seeks.
J.J. has been actively seeking out her family history and genealogy since 2004, but became truly active around 2015/6 when she realized she could join the Daughters of the American Revolution. With a lot of work, and a LOT of assistance from others, she became a member in March of 2021.J.J. maintains a blog where she muses about her genealogical findings, travels, and maintain a genealogical line.
