Biography

Gerrit Vinke was born on April 4, 1830 in Kamperveen.[1]

On on August 11, 1852 he married Johanna Westerhof in Zalk en Veecaten.[2]

In 1855 he and Johanna, along with their two children, Egberdina and Jan, emigrated to the United States, arriving in New York on the ship Alexander, eventually settling in South Holland IL. His parents and many of his siblings emigrated at the same time on the same ship.[3]

He died in 1887 and is buried in Illinois.[4]
