Biography

Marguerite Vigneau was born on 24 Sep 1734 in Beaubassin, Acadie, Nova Scotia, daughter of Jean Vigneau (1704 - <1762) and Louise Arseneau (1715 - 1779). She was baptized the day she was born at Beaubassin. Her godparents were Habraham Arsenaud and Marguerite Bourg.^[1]

Marguerite (~19) married Claude Coste (~24) (~1730 - ~1805) in 1754 in Port-Toulouse, Ile-Royale, Acadie. ^[2]

Their children were:

1. Jacques Coste (1757 - ~1819)
2. Jean Coste (1760 - 1844)
3. Anne Agnes Coste (1764 - 1798)
4. dite Helene Coste (1765 - )
5. Felicien Coste (1767 - ~1846)
6. Jean Baptiste Coste (~1771 - ~1857).

Research Notes

According to Antigonish Cenotaph Project website, Marguerite passed away well after 1774:

... Claude Coste and his wife, Marguerite Vigneau, pioneer settlers of Havre Boucher who were originally from Port Toulouse and were living at Arichat in 1771. The couple moved to Havre Boucher in the late 1780’s, and Claude was one of the settlers who paid a poll tax there in 1794
