Biography

Philip Viers was a Michigander.

Philip Roland (Roe) Viers was born on January 6, 1896 in Gladwin County, Michigan WWI Draft Registraion Card says born "Dale, Michigan" but there is no Dale, Michigan - althought there is a Dale Road, in Tobacco Township, Michigan; Newspapers.com lists his birth place as "Gladen County, Michigan" - although there is no "Gladen County, Michigan"; however there is a "Gladwin County, Michigan, to Owen E. Viers (30) and Mary Arilla (Van Sickle) Viers [1][2][3].

In 1900, Philip (4 - born in January of 1896, in Michigan) lived in Madison, Lenawee County, Michigan, with his father Owen (34 - born in April of 1866, in Ohio and worked as a teamster), his mother Mary (33 - born in August of 1866, in Michigan), his sister Verner Viers (11 - born in August of 1888, in Ohio), his sister Zula Belle Viers (10 - born in March of 1890, in Michigan), his brother Robert N. Viers (8 - born in November of 1891, in Ohio) and his brother Rollo Curl Viers (6 - born in February of 1894, in Ohio)[4].

In 1910, Philip (14) lived on Wanamaker Street, in St. Joseph, Williams County, Ohio with his father Owen (44 - worked as a railroad car inspector), his mother Mary (43), his brother Rollo (16 - worked as a basket maker for a basket factory) and sister Neva H. Viers (8 - born in Michigan)[5].

On February 19, 1917, Philip (21 - worked as a laborer) married Donelda Marie Graetz (18 - at home) in Monroe, Michigan[6][7].

June 5, 1917, Philip (21 - worked as a railroder), lived at 643 East Elm Street, in Wauseon, Ohio, registered for WWI[8].

In 1920, Philip (24 - worked in a tube mill), lived at 17 Sharon Street, in Shelby, Richland County, Ohio with his wife Donelda M. (22 - born in Ohio), their daughter Madonna Viers (1 - born in Ohio) and their son Philip Jr. Viers (3/12 - born in Ohio)[9].

In 1929, Philip lived at 164 West Park Drive, in Shelby, Ohio and worked as a "tubeworker" [10].

In 1930, Philip (34 - continued to work as a laborer, at the tube mill), lived at 164 West Park Drive, in Shelby, Richland, Ohio, with his wife Donna (30), their daughter Madonna J. (12), son Philip Jr. (10), daughter Mary Viers (9 - born in Ohio), son Julius O. Viers (5 - born in Ohio) and son Harold Viers (10/12 - born in Ohio)[11].

In 1940, Philip (44 - worked as a hammer man at Tube Works), continued to live at 164 West Park Drive, with his wife Donelda (40 - worked as a press operator, at Miller Press), their daughter Madona (22 - practiced as a nurse at Shelby Hospital), son Philip Jr. (20 - worked as a delivery boy for a grocery), daughter Mary Ann (18), son Julius (15) and son Harold (10 - born in Ohio)[12].

April 27, 1942, Philip (46 - described as 5' 8 1/2" tall, blue eyes, 170 lbs., brown hair, a light complexion and worked for Ohio Seamless Tube Company), registered for WWII[13].

On May 15, 1942, Philip enlisted into the Marines[14].

From January 1, to January 31, 1943, Philip served in the Marines, as a Private First Class Officer[15][16][17].

On February 27, 1985, Philip Roland Viers (89 and widowed) passed away, at MedCentral Health System, in Shelby, Richland County, Ohio; he is buriend at Saint Mary's Cemetery in Edgerton, Williams County, Ohio[18][19][20][21].

Philip Roland Viers was the FIL of my paternal 1st cousin of husband of my great aunt Wikitree doesn't want me to post the family line here scroll to top of page, click on "Find", then "Relationships", enter Cook-7750 and Viers-107 however it won't find the relationship.
