Donelda Marie Graetz was born on June 21, 1899, in Center Township, Williams County, Ohio to August Leopold Graetz and Christina Fritch Graetz ^[1][2].

In 1900, Donelda M. (age 11/12 - listed as son and male in the census), lived in Center, Williams County, Ohio with her father August L. Graetz (age 37 - worked as a freight agent), her mother Christina (age 37), her brother Herold H. Graetz (age 14 - worked as a day laborer), her sister Fanny B. Graetz (age 11), her brother Clyde Bertrum Graetz (age 9), her aunt Mollie (age 40 - dressmaker) and her first cousin Muriel M. Beck (age 11 - at school)^[3].

In 1910, Donelda (age 10 - listed as daughter), lived with her father August (age 47 - worked as a telegrapher for the railroad), her mother Chistina (age 47) and her brother Clyde (age 18 - worked as a laborer for a sawmill)^[4].
