Biography
Mary Lucinda (Vickers) Gulley was born on 11 Aug 1859 in Nickelsville, Scott, Virginia, United States, daughter of Fredrick J Vicars (1823–1903) and Martha J Haney (about 1839–1865).
Her siblings were:

Mary (19) married Silas Ratliff Gulley (23) (born on 5 Sep 1855 in Gate City, Scott; son of James Priant Gulley and Nancy (Osborne) Gulley) in 1879 in Virginia.[3] Their known children were:

In 1910, Mary (50) was living in household of Delas R Gulley (55) in Tulare, Tulare with her children, Lydia (24), and Katherine (22); and Delas R Gulley (55), Mary L Gulley (50), Azzalea G Nicholson (27), and Jeanetta Gulley (26). [6]
In 1920, Mary (60) was living in household of Silas R Gulley (64) in Tulare Judicial Township, Tulare with her husband, Silas R (64); their daughter, Lydia (30); and Mary Gulley (60). [7]
In 1930, Mary (70) was living in household of James M Setliff (66) in Boron, Kern with her children, Azalea Setliff (47), and Lucinda (70); her brother, James M Setliff (66); and William A Neal (52), and Kathyern Neal (42). [8]
Mary died on 19 May 1937 in Oildale, Kern, aged 77.[9] She was buried in Tulare Cemetery, Tulare, California.
Her obituary reads: "MARY GULLEY DIES; FUNERAL HERE FRIDAY. Mrs. Mary Lucinda Gulley, born in Nickelsville, Scott county, Virginia, Aug. 11, 1859, passed away quietly Wednesday morning at 6 o'clock at the jome of her daughter, Mrs. W. A. Neal, in Oildale, Kern county. Mrs. Gulley had been in failing health for some time, but was only confined to her bed for the last 10 days. She was given the best possible medical aid during her illness and all that loving hands could do was done, but to no avail. She filled a place in her home and in the hearts of her many friends that can never be replaced. Mrs. Gulley was preceded in death by her husband 10 years ago. They had lived in Tulare sine 1895, coming here from Virginia with their family. Mr. Gulley was a well known rancher here. From childhood Mrs. Gulley was a loyal christian, good and kind to all, and has left many friends and loved ones in Tulare and Oildale to mourn her loss. The children left to mourn are: Mrs. W. A. Neal of Oildale, Mrs. Frank May of Visalia, Mrs. J. M. Setliff of Tulare, Alvis Gulley of Tulare, Fred Gulley of Visalia; grandchildren Mrs. Fred graham of Tulare, Loretta Nicholson of Vacaville, also eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren in Texas. Two children, Mrs. Lydia Dierks and Mrs. I. G. Mires, are deceased. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 o'clock from the Goble parlors. Rev. Arthur Wallace of the Tulare first Methodist church will officiate."[10]
