Biography

Emeline was born in 1828. She was the daughter of Henry Vercoe and Anna Lawry.

UK Census Date 1851: Living with her parents and three siblings in Egloshayle, Cornwall, England. Aged 22 and single. Also in the household were five servants.

Emeline emigrated from England to New Zealand with her parents and four siblings on board the Joseph Fletcher, departing London on 31 August 1852 and arriving into Auckland on 8 October 1852.

She married Thomas Russell in 1854. They had at least 7 children; Mary Emeline, Emily, Thomas Henry, Anna Jessie, Alice Sarah, Helen Mary and Charles Ernest.^[2]

Both her parents died in 1862.
