Ninian Veatch was a Maryland colonist.

Ninian Veatch served with Upper Battalion, Montgomery County Militia, Maryland Militia during the American Revolution.

Ninian Veatch is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A210970.

Ninian Veatch was born about 1725 to James Veatch and Rachel Unknown. He died before 5 May 1798.

In 1760, he lived in All Saints Parish, Frederick, Maryland.[1]

In the 1776 provincial census of Frederick County, Ninian Veatch, Junr (sic) age 51 appeared with his wife Elisabeth 46, 5 children: Nin 21, John 19, James 18, Solomon 15, Jamima 13, and Tobey a Negroe 15.[2]

Military

While living in Montgomery County, Maryland, Ninian served with the 7th Company of the Upper Battalion of the Maryland Militia in 1777. He also took an Oath of Fidelity in 1778.[3]

Will

Made 10 May 1785 and proved 5 May 1798 in Montgomery County, Maryland. Named two sons, John and Solomon, and bequeathed to daughter Jemima Fraim Veatch “one negro man named Toby and one walnut chest, and my will is that said Negro man shall be in the service of my son John until my daughter’s marriage provided he takes the same care of her as a father would of a child to find her in meat, drink and clothing as long as she shall think fit to live with him.”[4]
