Biography

Jan Vacek was born on December 12, 1855 in Malčin to Václav Vacek and Anna Šimánek[1].

He married Josefa Rossova on August 26, 1884 in Lučice, Bohemia[2]. They had nine children:

  1. Marie "Mary" Frances Vacek born April 22, 1885 in Lučice[3]
  2. Jan "John" James Vacek born December 1, 1886 in Lučice[4]
  3. Josef "Joseph" John Vacek born December 21, 1888 in Lučice[5]
  4. James Anton Vacek born November 26, 1892 in Omaha
  5. Frank Louis Vacek born August 16, 1894 in Omaha
  6. Frances Anna Vacek born January 8, 1896 in Omaha
  7. Josephine Barbara Vacek born November 3, 1898 in Omaha
  8. Charles Rudolf Vacek born April 8, 1901 in Omaha
  9. Edward Louis Vacek born December 2, 1905 in Omaha

Jan and Josefa immigrated to the United States separately around 1890. Once in the United States, they began going by John and Josephine.

John passed away on August 26, 1925 in Omaha, Douglas, Nebraska at the age of sixty-nine[6]. He is buried at Saint Mary's Cemetery in Omaha[7].
