ALERT: One record has been found that clearly shows maiden name as Kuhl. Before changing profile name, find her Norwegian Birth/Baptismal Record and confirm not only her full maiden name but the names of her biological parents. (see research notes)
[[Anna Kühl or Kuhl) and Eli Anderson (abt.1839-abt.1928) married abt 1860.[4] Note: This marriage is not accurately substantiated by any primary record but appears to have been in Norway . (NOTE: Discrepancy exists regarding names of her parents - some records appear to show father and mother's surnames as Iven as well; No mention of Kühl or Kuhl]], both born in Norway,) Note: I believe three of eight known children were born in Norway, four in Indiana, and one child has yet to be found who was born and died prior to 1900). Need to check this last sentence for accuracy after all the children have profiles.
Eli and Anna emigrated to the USA in 1870 and settled in Franklin, Putnam, Indiana.[4] Son, John Anderson (abt.1872-1917), was born in indiana, USA in Aug 1872.
In 1900, Anna (57) and her husband, Eli Anderson (abt.1839-abt.1928) (60), had been married for 40 years, and were now living in their own, unmortgaged home in Franklin, Putnam, Indiana with two of their eight children, John Anderson (abt.1872-1917) (27) and Ina Maurine Anderson (abt.1883-1971) (16), Eli was naturalized and working as a blacksmith. All could read, write, and speak English. At the time of this census on 15 Jun 1900, seven of their eight children were living, one deceased.[4]
In 1910, Ely (71) and Anna (68), now married for 49 years, and their son John (37) were still in Franklin. Ely was still working in his own blacksmith shop on their farm which was free from mortgage. Both Ely and Anna were shown as not being able to read or write. John, who could read and write, was now working as a clerk in a furniture shop.[7] This son died at age 41, on 25 Dec 2017 in Jackson Township, near the home of his sister in Roachdale, IN.[8]
In 1920, "Eric" (sic) (i.e. Ely) (81) and Anna (78) were living on Jefferson Street in Franklin and are shown as now being able to read, write and speak English. Ely was still working as a "machanic" in his blacksmith shop. Two children now deceased.[9]
Anna died on 20 Dec 1920 in Franklin Township, Putnam, Indiana[10] and was placed to rest at the Bainbridge Cemetery in Bainbridge, Putnam, Indiana.[1]
NO BIRTH/BAPTISMAL RECORD has been found Need Norwegian Primary Birth/Baptismal Record This is needed to confirm the accuracy of her full given name and parentage BEFORE changing her profile name.
One mismatched passenger list shows similar names with father and mother's surnames as IVEN but shows an incorrect emigration/immigration date and wrong nationality (Germany) - not a match to this Norwegian family; No mention of Kühl or Kuhl]]
Question
How would she have gotten maiden name of Kuhl or one of those variants IF her father was Iven? Was her mother's maiden name Kuhl? One ancestry tree shows Iven's wife's given name was Martha (no maiden name) and NO substantiating source ... just put this here in case something more concrete develops.
Need birth/baptism records for both parents as well.
The Willis Family Tree - owner "br" (i.e. bridgetetcheson) - shows Hann Halvor Iven's wife's given name as Martha but no source is shown to substantiate her name.
HUSBAND's GIVEN NAME: Eli vs. Ely Andersen_ Most commonly seen as Eli
CHILDREN: Substantiating Records are needed for accurate full name and birth location of each child. Most of the children need to have profiles of their own. One of eight completed. I've added red brackets as a reminder that profiles are needed for referenced relationships.
Name not known. (Born and died prior to 1900). Referred to as not living in 1900 US Census. No additional info.
