Biography

Mike Tyson is an American former professional boxer. He is considered to be one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time.[1]

Michael Gerard Tyson was born on New York City on June 30, 1966. He is the son of Purcell Tyson and Lorna Mae Smith.

He married actress Robin S. Givens in 1988 in Manhattan, New York City, New York, USA.[2]

Boxing Career

In 1982, when Mike Tyson was only 15-years old, boxing manager Cus D’Amato said he had "another Floyd Patterson in 15-year old Mike Tyson."[3] D'Amato became Tyson's legal guardian and manager until D'Amato's death in 1985.

Tyson became the world's youngest heavyweight champion at the age of 20 by beating Trevor Berbick on November 22, 1986.[4][5]

Multiple sources say that Curlee Kirkpatrick Jr. (Kirkpatrick-5201) is the father of Mike Tyson and his two siblings. Curlee and Lorna never married. Lorna took the name of Tyson from her first husband (haven't found a record of their marriage or divorce).

According to Wikipedia, Mike Tyson's birth certificate lists Purcell Tyson as his father. Curlee Kirkpatrick was the man who raised Tyson as a father during his early childhood years. I would suggest we do further research into this discrepancy before adding either father. Perhaps Curlee would be better off linked as a "father figure" within the bio.
