Carol Turner was born in Victoria, Australia in the 1970s. She is the oldest of two children.
In 1999, Carol founded a website called "The Mighty Big Tree". This project has been intermittently active over the years. It is currently online as a blog, but is not actively updated at present.
From 2001 until 2006 she was known on Genealogy forums and mailing lists as Carol Turner Beckett. During this time she contributed to FamilySearch and other projects, including John C. Wilton's online tree that expanded on the research of Robert Wilton.
Carol's four main family lines are Turner (Powell), Wilton, Hanniver and Robertson. She aspires to create or join a One-Name Study for Hanniver at some point.
Carol's pet project over 30 years of research has been her great great grandmother, Harlettee Louisa (Groombridge) Rothery (1846-1921), and she considers that she is likely the foremost living expert on the life of this interesting lady, conceding there is probably not stiff competition for this title.
DNA has added an entirely new dimension to family history research and Carol is passionate about learning everything she can from DNA.
At present, Carol is a mother of two teenagers and works full-time in the telecommunications industry. With a lot on her plate genealogy is still her passion, but she is often unable to give it the time she would like to. If you have an enquiry please do contact Carol, but be sure to prompt her if you don't hear back - she's given to forgetting to reply to emails that she wants to give particular care to in her response because that's who she is as a person.
In the event of my death, I hereby give permission for all of my private profiles to be transferred to any of the following slightly-active WikiTreers in my family, whether or not they are currently on the trusted lists:

We're contacting you for the annual Australia Project membership checkin. We really appreciate your involvement in the Project in the last year. Thank you so much for all your help to improve Australian profiles on WikiTree.
Please could you reply to this message, or send me a private message to let us know if you'd like to stay on in the Project, and if you'd like to make any changes to the teams that you belong to. The teams are listed on Australia Project Teams.
If you've moved on to other things for the moment, that's absolutely fine. We'd appreciate if you'd let us know so that we can remove you from the membership list.
Over the past year, Australia Project members have been more active on Discord. We're finding it a fun way to communicate as a project. If you're not on Discord yet, here's some information - Help:Discord. If you are already on the WikiTree Discord server, let us know, and we can send you an invite link to the dedicated Australia Project server (WikiAustralia) where all our chat channels are located. It's a great way to communicate with other members on your project team/s, or for any general questions.
We're always happy to receive any ideas or suggestions that you have to make our project even better.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
The Australia Project Leadership Team ~ Gillian, Margaret and Veronica

Carol, thanks for your efforts in sourcing this month.
Carol, welcome to the group, and thanks for your efforts to improve our shared tree.

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.
Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Just checking in with a few quick tips:
Free Space pages are wiki pages for supplementing your family history. They can be used to profile anything of significance such as a special pet, a meaningful event, a school you attended, a family heirloom Theyre anything pages.
Not sure what to include in a profile? Check out ourBiography Ideas and Styles and Standards help pages.
Lastly, sometimes youll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.
If you have any questions, please ask!

You are now a confirmed member of WikiTree! Thank you for volunteering.
There are great digital sources out there that are of no cost to verify any information in your family heritage. One I use is called familysearch.org.
Have fun and ask for help if you need it! WikiTree members are always eager to offer guidance to a fellow genealogist.
If you need additional help, our Mentors Project is a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to assist you with WikiTree-specific problems.
See you in the branches and Welcome to WikiTree!!
Dodie, Greeter and Mentor
Welcome to WikiTree! The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site youve ever used.
WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!
What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research youd like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree? When you confirm your email address, youll see a Volunteer option on your profile page. Click that and leave us a short message here on your profile about your genealogical interests. A Greeters Project volunteer will be happy to confirm your membership, and youll be on your way!
Welcome to the family! Were really glad youre here.
