Early Life

When Betty Lucille Truitt was born on May 26, 1933, in Alamosa, Colorado, her father, [Truitt-1328|Elmer Truitt]], was 35, and her mother, Oka Groves, was 32. She was the youngest of 5 children:

They lived in Junction City on a farm along the river for many years, Bob helping raise her children, and being active in the grandchildren's lives.

Grandma Betty worked at Bi-Mart for years as a checker. She once got sent home for putting a streak of purple hair color in her silver hair.

She raised her family in Junction City on "the farm" and raised corn, tomatoes, and strawberries. When the grandkids stayed over we got strawberries, sugar, and cream for breakfast. She drove too fast, laughed too loud, and sat on grandkids when they were naughty. She was so much fun. She spent the last 10 years of her life in memory care facility in Roseburg, OR and didn't know anyone anymore, sometimes not even herself^[24].
