Communication Preferences:
I am interested in communicating with
cousins and anyone else with an interest in genealogy.
Here is my family tree.
I am highly motivated by the overlap of DNA and Genealogical information. My M-Line ancestor I get stuck on is Girzel (Walker) Fruit (abt.1716-aft.1794). Girzel immigrated to the US and died in North Carolina, and has some possible parents but definitely not proven, and I welcome collaboration on that and any other collaboration! I love working collaboratively, so reach out!
Kirby was named after the Kirby Saloon in Kirby, Montana, which is a real old west saloon where you can still tie your horse out front and there are legitimate bullet holes in the ceiling.
She graduated as valedictorian of Lodge Grass High Schools graduating class of 2002, having been in Junior ROTC, FFA, Cheerleading, Class Government, and many other activities.
She grew up on the Crow Indian Reservation in Montana, and was not enrolled in the Crow Tribe due to low blood quantum, but is 1/16th Crow from her father who is enrolled, and has records to prove such from the tribe, as well as DNA.
College Research
Kirby graduated from the University of Kansas with a Degree in December 2006 with a bachelors degree in Meterology.
She was a research assistant at the University of Kansas and went to Greenland with a research team in 2005 to use lidar to map the ice sheet.

Thanks for your work on John (Bryaton) Brayton (1855-1933) Would you be so kind and remove the obvious typo of his last name as you entered it "Bryaton" ? I've updated his current last name to the correct spelling. Thanks again!
The Profile Improvement Project (PIP) is performing a check-in with project members. Please review the following and let us know if you are content where we have placed you or would like to be more involved.
The Project operates in a team structure. There are currently three participant PIP Teams -- The Maintenance Category Team, the Unknowns Team, and the Biography Team. There is also the Voyage Team which guides new Voyagers. See the Profile Improvement Project Teams for a brief outline of each team.
You're currently identified as a member of the Biography Team Level 1. Biography Team Level 1 works on profiles from their watchlist and other profiles that interest them. Biography Team Level 2 works on orphaned profiles from a provided list. Biography Team Level 3 works on notable profiles from the Project’s Maintenance Categories. Are you happy with the Team you are on? If you are interested in working with a different Team, please let us know.
If you have not already done so, we invite you to join the email GoogleGroup and text chat Discord channel for our project. (You will need your Wiki ID for both). Neither is required; we also use the Profile_Improvement tag in G2G for Project announcements.
We thank you for all you do to help the Profile Improvement Project meet its goals. We would like to hear about the successes you’ve had and would also appreciate any feedback you have to help improve the Project. Please share your thoughts in a reply to this comment or via private message to one of us.
I think I would like to go to Biography Level 2 to work on additional profiles, in addition to the personal profiles I work on. Or I would be willing to work on maintenance categories, whichever group needs the assistance more. I'm not sure how much of an effort you expect of members to be team members for either of these groups. Do I have to do tracking? It seems like there is a lot of overlap between level 2 and maintenance, and I think those are in my wheelhouse.
Thank you, Kirby! We use a GoogleSheet to track the profiles that Level 2 team members work on. I've just requested to be your friend on Discord so that I can send you the link. We ask that you work on at least one profile per week. I'll explain how to use the spreadsheet once we're in contact. Debi
This is the time for the annual 2024 check in with members of the Military and War Project. Have you been active during the last six months in the Military and War Project? Do you want to remain working with this project? Note that it is a requirement to respond to the Military and War Project Check-ins. Please respond to this message by clicking the reply button below this message, to post your answer. I look forward to hearing from you..
Yes, I would like to continue to be involved in the project. I did a number of military categories, stickers, and profiles for various military people (in my tree and not). I did quite a bit of help with the elves during the Elfmas event with anyone who needed help in that discord channel just tagging me to go look at those profiles. I don't know how to do a search to get counts for my work, but I am active. :)
Thank you Kirby for checking in. I marked you as Active. If you ever need it all of your activity is listed at the top of your page. Look for this number 15,137 contributions at the top of your page. there is a line under it, that you can click, and then you can see everything you did..
I wanted to thank you for the joyful days that I discovered the improvements you made to the profile of Franz Leopold Klein (abt.1850-) during the Secret Santa Challenge in 2023. His daughter Anna is my great grandmother and she in my eyes had a rather tough l life. She immigrated to the US to wed Karl Ludwig, they quickly had three children, but she left the marriage and moved back to Germany with the kids! Then she really suffered through WWII there. I wanted to give her a family and a history, actually that is what you did! YOU didl! My family is very grateful as well. Your work on this family is absolutely beautiful and deeply appreciated and we will treasure it.
Thank you Kirby! was pretty sure Fredrika was August C Mother, but wanted more proof! I wish I understood how to get all this info and what to do with it! One of these days I will again try working on WIKI!
Sure thing! I'm glad to have been able to help. I highly reccomend the Profile Improvement Project, they taught me all kinds of things and I'm so very greatful to my mentor in that group.
Some negative bibliographical information: This Jacob Richmond and his wife aren't in Joshua Bailey Richmond's massive 1897 The Richmond Family, which contains only one Jacob Richmond, born in Michigan. I descend from the Michigander's father (got the Y chromosome haplogroup to prove it). I'm at rsrichmond on gmail
Hi Robert! This is on my husband's ex-wife's side of the family - I was working on a bit of genealogy for my step-children since their mother passed in 2015 and they don't have much from their mother's side of the family. I orphaned this profile after I updated it, so feel free to make any changes, corrections, etc. that you see fit, I feel no ownership over it and any knowledge you have is much appreciated! Right now I see there are no parents attached, so I can add this information as a research note if you prefer. Please let me know either way.
Anything you can do to improve these profiles with more specific citations is much appreciated. Once actual references have been added, you can remove the Unsourced category or template from the profiles.
I have gone through the US Native American Census to look for all of these individuals and come up dry. I'm going to search FindAGrave, but unfortunately those are typically just user enterred with no evidence. I'll keep searching.
Kirby, I'm so glad you joined Team Roses for sourcing fun and helped us source 4282 profiles. We took 2nd place by average score! Our next exciting event will likely be a Connect-A-Thon in January. Keep an eye out for announcements.
Kirby (Mullenberg) Drake participated with Team Roses during the 2022 Source-a-Thon, adding sources to 411 previously unsourced profiles.
Duncan-4840 was born in Scott County, Virginia around 1780 and he appears in Scott County in the 1820 Census, 1830 Census and 1840 Census. He had a son, William Paddleford Duncan (1820-1909) and a daughter Mahala (1822-1880).
Duncan-10640 appears in Lawrence County, Ohio in the 1820 Census and 1830 Census, along with land records in Lawrence County from the 1840s and beyond which make reference to Joseph dying in 1833. He had a son, William, born in 1819.
While I have always hoped/suspected that Duncan-10640 is also somehow related to Duncan-4840 (as Scott County, Virginia is fairly close to Lawrence County, Ohio), I have not yet been able to figure out Duncan-10640's parentage and/or where he was born.
Anyway, let me know what you think on this. Unfortunately though, the evidence does not seem to support a merge on this. Instead, you should merge with Duncan-4840
Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.
Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.
We are so happy you decided to upgrade to the Family Member level.
Please visit our tutorial pages to learn how to use WikiTree: How To Use WikiTree. It will save you time, energy, and frustration as you add your family profiles.
Exploring the WikiTree site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.
Questions? You can always use the G2G link to find answers. Go to the Help drop down menu at the top right of your profile and go down to Forum ("G2G") for the link.

Thank you! ~Kirby :)
I'm reviewing the Unsourced Native Americans category (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Native_Americans%2C_Unsourced_Profiles) and see that earlier this year, you added a number of Crow profiles that cite only an online tree. (Look under the "C" section.)
Anything you can do to improve these profiles with more specific citations is much appreciated. Once actual references have been added, you can remove the Unsourced category or template from the profiles.
Thanks so much.

I saw that you added Elizabeth Peters https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Peters-4447 as the wife of a Joseph Duncan profile that I manage - https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Duncan-10640. While I would love to find this Joseph's wife, I am pretty sure that Peters-4447 is actually the wife of this Joseph Duncan - https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Duncan-4840
