Biography

George was born in 1926, the son of Harvey Treon and Mabel McCarty. He died in 2002.[1] His date of death is confirmed by his social security death index entry.[2] His date and place of birth are confirmed by his World War II draft registration.[3]

He served in the US Army in the Korean War: corporal in Battery B 695 Armored Field Artillery Battalion.[4]

George F. Treon, 76, Hummels Wharf
HUMMELS WHARF — George F. Treon, 76, of Green Street, passed away at 12:31 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, 2002, at Sunbury Community Hospital, where he had been a patient since Tuesday.
He was born Aug. 27, 1926, in Sunbury, a son of the late Harvey and Mabel (Treon) Treon. On Feb. 27, 1953, in Selinsgrove, he married the former Ruth N. Sprenkle, who survives.
Mr. Treon was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Middlecreek Dam, RR3 Selinsgrove.
Hew as a life member of Americus Hose Company, Sunbury.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are one daughter, Laurie Hause of Middleburg; one grandson, Charles D. Britton II and his wife Jessica of Brooksville, Fla.; one granddaughter Kristin A. Britton of Middleburg, and one sister, Emma Maurer of Selinsgrove.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys Kelly, and five brothers, Wilson, Frank, John, Charles and Clifford Treon.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, MIddlecreek Dam, RR3 Selinsgrove, by his pastor, the Rev. John W. Harkins.
Burial will be in St. Paul's Church Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1948 E. Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
Arrangements are by the V. L. Seebold Funeral HOme, 601 N. High Street, Selinsgrove.[5]
