Jefferson Thomas was awarded the Spingarn Medal for outstanding achievement by an African American.

Jefferson Alison Thomas was one of the "Little Rock Nine", a group of African-American students who were the first black students ever to attend classes at Little Rock Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas.

He was the youngest of seven children of Ellis Thomas and Jessie Hulett.[1]

He died on 5 September 2010 in Groveport, Ohio.[2]
