John Baxter Taylor Jr. was an American track and field athlete, the first African American to win an Olympic gold medal.[1]
John Baxter Taylor was the son of John B. Taylor and Sarah L. Thomas.[2] He was a veterinarian. He died on 2 December 1908 in Philadelphia of typhoid fever, just months after winning his Olympics gold medal.[3] He was buried at Eden Cemetery in Collingdale, Pennsylvania.[4]
