Hi Bruce,

As you have been a member of WikiTree for a few weeks now, I thought I would check in to see how you are getting on with the site.

Has the New Member How-To been helpful, or left you with any questions?

Hello Bruce,

When your profiles were merged, your privacy setting changed from Unlisted to Open. If you plan to be active and create and adopt profiles and such, that's perfect. You need to have a fairly public profile to do those things. If you'd rather keep to a stricter privacy policy at present, that’s fine, too. Just adjust the privacy settings as you feel best.

Thanks,

Claire ~ WikiTree Greeter

Thank you for signing the Honor Code, Bruce.

I see that you have had your DNA tested, congratulations! Getting Started with DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.

DNA at WikiTree provides a visual way for you to find others who have tested and have the potential of having common ancestors. To get the best results, you need to continue adding sourced profiles for your ancestors until you can connect to existing profiles in WikiTree. If you have exhausted what you know on one line, it can sometimes help to add what you know on another line. The more branches you are able to add the greater the likelihood of finding potential cousins to match with. 24 hours after you connect to an existing profile, your test will have populated on the profiles of your ancestors and their descendants, where others with potential matches may also appear. The process of identifying which branch elements of DNA relate to will better enable you to find matches which relate to the particular branches you are researching.

Let me know if you have any questions, and have fun!

Smith-189914 and Tatro-308 appear to represent the same person because: Bruce is my uncle. One profile was started by me and the second was started by him.

Hi Bruce!

I am pleased to welcome you to the WikiTree family, your contributions will go a long way to joining the world together.

I would suggest starting with the New Member How-To pages, they will save you a lot of time and frustration. Don't be afraid to ask questions in our G2G forum and get involved as much or as little as works for you. Be sure to check out the tabs at the very top right hand side of your profile, there is lots to discover!

I am here to answer any question you have, no matter how trivial you may think it is. There is no such thing as a silly question. Please add as much information as you can, it all helps to turn a “name” back into a person. I hope you enjoy the site as much as I do!

Happy tree climbing

Rhonda ~ WikiTree Greeter
