Irene's 2nd marriage Elbridge Orton Nutter, Jan. 20, 1947, Summersville, West Virginia. They were parents of 8 children.


According to Irene's niece, Jan Nutter Sibert:

There was 5 years difference between Aunt Irene and Mom. Mom said she wanted to go to sleep Aunt Irene was reading wouldn’t turn off the light. Mom had saved her gum on the bed post. She took the gum and put it in Aunt Irene’s armpit hair. Mom said Aunt Irene cleaned it out of there turned off the light and went to bed. I can see her doing that she was calm. She may have said something to Mom but wasn’t the kind to throw a fit. Thank you, Jan for sharing that with me.
