Humphrey Napier Sturt, 2nd Baron Alington of Crichel was born on 20 August 1859 in London. He was the son of Henry Gerard Sturt, 1st Baron Alington of Crichel and Lady Augusta Bingham. [1]
He was educated between 1873 and 1877 at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England. He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford University.
He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for East Dorset between 1891 and 1904. He was invested as a Knight Commander, Royal Victorian Order (K.C.V.O.) He succeeded to the title of 2nd Baron Alington of Crichel, Dorset [U.K., 1876] on 17 February 1904.
He married Lady Feodorowna Yorke, daughter of Charles Philip Yorke, 5th Earl of Hardwicke and Lady Sophia Georgiana Robertina Wellesley, on 25 June 1883.
He died on 30 July 1919 at age 59 at London, England. He was buried on 6 August 1919 at Moor Crichel, Wimborne, Dorset, England.[2]
