Andrew Stewart was born in 1560. He was the son of Andrew Stuart and Margaret Stewart.
He became General of Artillery and Edinburgh Castle. He was granted lands in 1611 in County Tyrone, Ireland, extending to some 3,000 acres. It was at An Chraobh, Muintirevlin that he built a castle.[1] Around this castle of the new owner grew what is now the village of Stewartstown.
In 1615 he sold the lands and titles of Ochiltree to his cousin James Stewart of Killieth and was made 1st Baron Castle Stuart 7th November 1619.
