Marriage

Married: Roger Giffard Esq., as his third wife, by 1402. Date is estimated from the fact they had a son and three other daughters born by 1408.
Children of Roger Gifford and Elizabeth Seyton:
  • Elizabeth Giffard. Born about 1399 (age 10 in 1409). Named as daughter by his wife Elizabeth in her father's IPM. She received the manor of Helydon, co. Northampton which had been settled on her parents by John de Seyton. She married Sir Thomas Billing, Lord Chief Justice of England.
Children of Roger Giffard and Isabel Stretele:
  • Katherine Giffard. Born 1402, estimated from her being the oldest daughter and her brother being born in 1408.
  • Mary Giffard. Born 1404, estimated from her being the second daughter and her brother being born in 1408.
  • Jane Giffard. Born 1406, estimated from her being the third daughter and her brother being born in 1408.
  • Thomas Giffard. Born December 1408. Son and heir in his father's IPM.

Thomas Giffarde, son and heir of Roger Giffarde, to John Barton the younger, John Stretle and John Aston, their heirs and assigns. Quitclaim with warranty of all lands, rents and services in Powndoun in the parish of Twyforde co. Bukingham, Bekbroke and Newnton co. Oxford which they have by feoffment of John Stokys and Isabel his wife. Dated 8 October 9 Henry VI.
Thomas Giffarde (as above) to John Stokys and Isabel his wife. Confirmation of their estate and possession in the manors of Twyforde co. Bukingham, Bekbroke and Newnton co. Oxford, which William Stretele and William Kynge gave to Roger Giffarde now deceased and Isabel then his wife, now wife of John Stokys, and to the heirs of their bodies, with remainder to the right heirs of the said Roger. Dated 1 September 9 Henry VI.
Thomas Giffarde (as Before) to John Stokys and Isabel his wife. Confirmation of their estate and possession in certain lands, rents and services in Powndoun, Bekbroke and Newnton (aforesaid), which they have for their lives without impeachment of waste by gift of John Barton the younger, John Stretele and John Aston. Dated 14 October 9 Henry VI.
