Allan Stewart was born about 1365. He was the son of Allan Stewart and his wife an unknown daughter of "The Black Douglas".
He had conferred upon him by King Robert ll, King of Scotland, the honour of Knight Banneret being created a knight for the royal standard, the highest military honour of the time.
Sir Allan Stewart served for many years in France, and did not return to Scotland until 1421. In that year he obtained from the Abbot of Aberbrothic (now Arbroath), certain lands in the moor of McMorren.
He called his new estate Allanton and assumed the title of Sir Allan Steuart, of Daldowie and Allanton,
He passed away after 1444.
Sir Allan Steuart was married in France to an unknown "French Lady" some time before 1400.
