Beatrix is assumed to have been the oldest daughter of Philipp von Schwaben and Maria, the daughter of the Byzantine Emperor Isaac Angelos. This is based on her being named first in a list of the four daughters of Philipp.[1] A birth around 1198 would have made her 10 when her father was murdered in 1208[2] and 14 when Emperor Otto IV von Braunschweig married her in Nordhausen. She died shortly after the wedding.[3][4]
