The 1880 US Census of Northfield, Franklin, Massachusetts finds this George at the age of 2yrs old and given as born in Massachusetts. He is living there in Northfield, with his 35yr old widowed mother, Gertrude Starkwether (sic) and his two brothers; 15yr old "Don" (sic) A. and 13yr old Sidney. They are all living in the household of his maternal grandfather, 62yr old widower, Horace F. Field. Also living in the household is his 21yr old maternal aunt, Hatta (Field) and a 40yr old farm laborer named Charles Briggs.^[1]
