BIRTH:

A record of the birth of this Martha G. Field, who was born September 21, 1844 in Northfield, Franklin, Massachusetts to parents Horace F. and Mary E. Field.[1]

See 1900 US Census source that says she was born in Massachusetts in September of 1843.

MARRIAGE:

A record of the marriage of this Martha Gertrude Field to George C. Starkweather, we believe in Northfield, Franklin, we are sure, November 24, 1863. Of this Martha, this record tells us she was 20yrs old and entering into her 1st marriage at the time. It also tells us she was born in Northfield, Massachusetts and that her father was Horace F. Field.[2]

There is also a record of the marriage above registered in Roxbury, MA.[3]

CENSUS':

The 1850 US Census of Northfield, Franklin, Massachusetts finds this Martha G. at the age of 6yrs old and given as born in Massachusetts. She is living there in Northfield, with her 32yr old father, H. Franklin Field, her 27yr old mother, Mary and her three sisters; 9yr old Mary, 7yr old Emeline S. and 2yr old Prusha A. They are all living in the household of her fathers, 73yr old father, Roswell Field).[4]

The 1855 Massachusetts state census of Northfield, Franklin, Massachusetts finds this Martha G. at the age of 12yrs old and given as a born in Massachusetts. She is living in Northfield, with her 37yr old father, Horace F. Field, her 32yr old mother, Mary E. and 7 of her siblings; 15yr old Mary E., 13yr old Emerline (sic ?) S., 7yr old "Gerusha" (sic ?) A., 4yr old Albert F., 3yr old Ernest C., 2yr old Sumner G. and 1yr old Arthur E. Also living in the household is Horace's 78yr old father, Roswell (Field).[5]

The 1860 US Census of Northfield, Franklin, Massachusetts finds this Martha G. at the age of 16yrs old and given as born in Massachusetts. She is living there in Northfield with her 42yr old father, Horace Field and 9 of her siblings; 20yr old Mary E., 18yr old Emma S., 11yr old Jerusha A., 9yr old Albert G., 8yr old Ernest C., 6yr old Sumner W., 5yr old Arthur B., 3yr old Gustine P. and 1yr old Hattie J.[6]

The 1880 US Census of Northfield, Franklin, Massachusetts finds this person given as Gertrude Starkwether (sic), at the age of 35yrs old and given widowed and as born in Massachusetts. She is living there in Northfield with her 3 sons; 15yr old Don A., 13yr old Sydney and 2yr old George. They are all living in the household of Gertrude's 62yr old widower father, Horace F. Field. Also living in the household is Horace's daughter/Gertrude's sister, 21yr old Hatta and a 40yr old farm laborer named Charles Briggs.[7]

The 1900 US Census of Northfield, Franklin, Massachusetts finds this Martha G. Starkweather at the age of 56yrs old and given as born in Massachusetts in September of 1843; a widow having mothered four children, three of whom are living in 1900. She is living there in Northfield in the household of her 82yr old father, Horace Field.[8]
