John was born about 1638. According to Robert Charles Anderson, John was born by 1640, the son of Michael Spencer and his wife Isabel. John married Susanna (Unknown) by 1666, a date based on the birth of their first child.^[1]

John Spencer, the son of Michael Spencer of Lynn, Massachusetts, married Susannah Griffin and moved his family to Rhode Island.

Alexander Spencer (4), Alexander (3), William (2), Michael (1), born say 1724, died ?; married at Sharon, Conn., 25 Feb 1750, Deborah Frisbie, born 8 Jun 1732, daughter of Deacon Ebenezer Frisbie and Silence (Brockett) Frisbie. In the 1790 census under Litchfield (which included Sharon and other towns is listed Alexander Spensor (4 males over 16 and two females), and immediately under him is Hezekiah Spencer ( 1 male over 16, 1 male under 16, and two females), and Hezekiah Frisbie is listed a couple of lines above. Hezekiah Frisbie was a brother of Deborah Frisbie, and later moved to Duanesburg, N.Y.

Alexander Spencer, of this family, was a "Minuteman"; Alexander Spencer died marching with Benedict Arnold in his March through the Maine Wilderness to invade Canada. (www.dar.org records)
