Biography

Ichabod was born in 1755, the son of Samuel Spencer and Hannah Hawley. He passed away in 1819.
Name and birthdate data shown herein was transcribed by Daniel Brown from an original hand-typed document containing 31 Spencer names and respective birth-dates pertaining to this Spencer Family lineage. Said data was originally transcribed by James D. Spencer [1883-1954] from a Spencer Family Bible then in his possession. James D. Spencer provided that document to Robert Milton Brown in the 1930s and it is now in the possession of Robert's son, Daniel R. Brown, of Glens Falls, New York.

The Spencer and Brown family lines merge with Sarah M. (Spencer) Thomas [1831-1887], maternal third great-grandmother of said Daniel R. Brown. The latter has been researching the Brown and related Spencer line for about 20 years and, in regard to the document prepared by James D. Spencer, Daniel has to-date not discovered any known discrepancies or conflicting data in the document prepared by James D. Spencer.[1]

Probably should consider merging the profiles and transferring the discussion regarding the conflicting birth dates to the Biography/Sources of the remaining, sole profile.

Spencer-9990 and Spencer-7003 are not ready to be merged because: The declaration to post this action as an "Unmerged Match" is based on a conflict in the stated birth date for Ichabod Spencer (Spencer-9990 vs. Spencer- 7003) based on an historical document that was authored by an 1800's Spencer descendant, such original document now in the possession of Daniel R. Brown .... reference "Sources" in Spencer-7003. Although the proprietor of Spencer-9990 indicates the unstated source for his data is the Barbour Collection, the conflict in birth date in the either of the opposing documents may be flawed and may or may not be resolved at a future time.

Michael: In regard to your proposal to merge your Spencer line with that shown in my Spencer line, please read the "Source" notations posted in my Wiki pages for Ichabod and Phebe Spencer. The only conflict appears to be Ichabod's birth-date. Due to previous mergers here at Wiki, I was became aware that Phebe was Ichabod's second wife. I see no other conflicting data in your information.
