For cases where the information in Whitney Family is unique and/or in conflict with other sources, researchers may want to know that the authors' research files still exist and are available at the Connecticut Historical Society in Hartford. The bulk of the files consist of pre-printed "Circular" forms (questionnaires) that were to be filled in by then-living family members (early 1870s) and mailed back to Phoenix, along with some letters.

In examining an original form filled in by my own GGG-GM Mary Elizabeth (Wood) Rogers I did find two transcription errors in the published book, one relatively unimportant (the middle name of a person who had no children) and one quite material (where she wrote the surname 'Latten' for her husband's mother, the published work says 'Lutten', the former being the name of a family that was living in the area where he was born, the latter, not).

The material is not online, but I did find (pre-pandemic) the CHS library staff very helpful even before I was able to arrange to go there.

In the CHS Library online catalog, see Call no. GEN 003
