1898 - Ernest Smedley 'stood up' among others at the wedding of Margaret Vallance and Richard Bustin exchanged nuptial vows on September 26, 1898, before Rev. W. Baugh-Allen, at St. Thomas' Anglican church, Chilliwack. [2]
1901 - E. Smedley was owed $9.00 for work done for the community of Chilliwack, B.C. [3]
1908 - STRAYED From the farm of Richards & Francis, Rosedale, about middle of Nov, light sorrel mare, foundered in front feet. E. Smedley, Prairie Central Road. [4]
1909 - The largest sale of onion seeds ever made in chilliwack was made last week by H. J. Barber to Messrs. Smedley & Hornby of Prairie central, amounting to $70.00. [5]
1909 - E. Smedley, East Chilliwack, went to New Westminster on Wednesday morning. He was summoned there to be present with his sister while an operation was being performed for appendicitis. [6]
1910 - E. Smedley was awarded at $1.08 per yard the gravelling of the Prairie Central road from the Vickerson road to the Munt's corner. [7]
1911 - LOST -- About the middle of December from E. Smedley's place, a bay two-year-old filly with white diamond on forehead, one white foot. Information thankfully received by Percy Ford, Chilliwack. [8]
1911 - Ernest Smedley and others are successful at farming in Chilliwack and Big Prairie [9]
1913 - A boy borrowed a horse, saddle and bridle from Mr. Ernest Smedley without the consent of that gentleman, and made his exit from the valley by way of Sumas City, Wash. The horse and saddle were recovered afterwards, and the boy is now under the eyes of the United States immigration officers and working for $10 a month and board with a Nooksack Valley farmer. [10]
1913 - Ernest Smedley received a contract for gravelling the Prairie Central Road from Chilliwack River to Tyron Road for 55 cents per yard, from Tyron Road to Vickerson Road for 90 cents per yard, from Vickerson Road to Gibson Road for $1.10 per yard, from Gibson Road to Upper Prairie Road, 65 cents per yard. 1921 - Mr. Ernest Smedley, of Vanderhoof, B. C. is the guest of his sister Mrs. Wm. Pinicker. [13]
1925 - Mr. Smedley and daughter of Vanderhoof, B.C., visited his sister, Mrs. Pinneger, who has been ill for some time and is now staying with Mr. and Mrs. P. Tope. [14]
1927 - Ernest Smedley was elected as a delegate to represent the Nechaco Farmers' Institute at the District C of farmers' institutes. [15]
1928 - Mr. Ernest Smedley of Vanderhoof and nephew, Jimmie Pinniger, are guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alex McKenzie. [16]
1930 - Ernest Smedley was a member of the coroner's jury for the murder of Herman Peters, a German, near Vanderhoof. [17]
1933 - Mr. Ernest Smedley and sons, Arnold, Gordon and Jack, and Miss Ethel Smedley, of Vanderhoof, were guests this week of Mrs. A McKensie. Mr. F. J. Cooke, a former principal of Cheam school, accompanied them and is to teach this year at the Coast. [18]
1934 - Mr. Ernest Smedley and his son, Arnold, and nephew, Jimmy Pinnager, of Vanderhoof, have been visiting at the McKenzie home following the Vancouver Exhibition. [19]
1944 - Ernest Smedley, Vanderhoof, and Clarence Smedley, Vancouver, were guests for several days last week of Mrs. Alex. McKenzie [20]
1951 - Ernest Smedley, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Smedley and Arnold Smedley, Vanderhoof, B.C. en route to Vancouver, spent Sunday at the home of Mrs. Alex McKenzie. Ernest Smedley always enjoys a visit in Chilliwack because more than sixty years ago he and his father homesteaded on the Gibson road in Cheam district. [21]
