Born to Elie Sigouin & Celina Bazinet in South Mountain, ON, Canada.

David Siguaw was born at Mountain Dundas, Ontario, Canada (September 04, 1865) and would have been 57 years of age next September.

He married Anna C. Fisher of Embrum, Ontario, Canada (March 04, 1889).

Mr. and Mrs. Siguaw came to Cavalier county in 1893 and resided near Milton for three years. in 1896, they took a homestead at Nekoma, where they lived a number of years. They later bought their present farm in South Olga, where they have since made their home. During the years they have lived in that neighborhood they have gained the love and respect of all around them. Dave was known as a true friend and neighbor and his loss will be deeply felt.

Saturday, July 1st, David Siguaw died at his farm home in South Olga.

His health had been poor for some time past and last spring he had a severe attack of the flu from he never really recovered. A week before he died, he contracted s cold which developed into pneumonia and all that medical and loving care could do was done, the end came peacefully at 8:15pm.

With a firm belief in the future and confidence in the mercy of God, he closed the true life of a Christian by recieving from his pastor, Rev. Father Bastien, the last rites of his church.

With his wife and children at his bedside his last thoughts being, as through his whole life, for the welfare and happiness of his loved ones. He talked to them of their future without him as long as he had the strength to do so.

Seven children were born to them, six of whom are living: John of Falsen; Eddie of Cathay; and Willie who works the home farm; also Mrs. P.E. Hell and Mrs. E.D. Wert of Milton, and Nora who was away from home at the time of her father's death and not being able to reach home until Sunday, the day after.

Mr. and Mrs. Siguaw came to Cavalier county in 1893 and resided near Milton for three years. in 1896, they took a homestead at Nekoma, where they lived a number of years. The deceased leaves to mourn his loss besides his loving wife and six children; eight grandchildren, five sisters and five brothers, also a niece, Mrs. Ambrose ...... of Casselton and many neighbors and friends throughtout the county, who sincerly sympathize with the family in the loss of their father.

The funeral took place on Tuesday, at the Catholic Church in Olga. Rev. Father Bastien officating at the requiem high mass and the remains were laid to rest in the family lot in the cememtery near the ..... The floral tributes were ...... beautiful and were lovingly offered by the many friends and C..... Camp of M.W. A. Many old neighbors from Nekoma; as well as friends from Pembina and Cavalier Counties, were present to pay a last tribute to one who had won for himself their lasting esteem.

The pall bearers were his old neighbors, Henry Sehrt, R.D. Hunter, Jack Crieman, James Slama, John Sehrt, and John Goggins.

Sometime after immigrating from Canada to the United States, David changed the spelling of his middle name and changed his last name from Sigioun to Siguaw.

Sigouin-9 and Sigioun-1 appear to represent the same person because: clear duplicate- last name misspelled

Hi Laura

I'm not convinced that the spelling Sigioun is correct, nor that Sigouin is correct. I' ve seen both online, often in the same source, so it's hard to confirm either one.
