Joseph, son of Bazil E. Shockey and Elenor "Ellen" Barker,[1] was born 31 July 1837 in Highland County, Ohio.[1][2]
Residence (1850) owned farm in Salem Township, Highland, Ohio Bazil (age 48, farmer) and Ellen Shockey (50), and their children Bazil E. (26), farmer, Priscilla (24), Isaac (22, farmer), Thomas Jefferson (21, farmer), George Washington (18, farmer), Lucinda "Cenith" (16), Joseph Edward I13), Francis Marion (10) and Sarah Ellen Shockey (6).[3]
On 1 January 1864 in Buford, Highland County, he married Lucinda Hopkins.[4]
Joseph died 24 March 1917 in Hamilton, Butler County, Ohio, at age 79 due to arteriosclerosis and senility.[1] He was buried at Oxford Cemetery in Oxford, Butler County.[5]
