Thomas was born in Wheelock, Cheshire, England, in 1872.[1] His birth was registered in the second quarter in Congleton. He was the son of Samuel Sherratt and Mary Cartlidge. He was enumerated in the 1881 census [2] as a nine year old residing with his parents and five siblings on Wheelock Street, Wheelock. (Registration District Congleton). In 1891, [3] the family was living on Crewe Road, Christ Church. Thomas stated he was nineteen, single, and a "Fitter Apprentice".
Thomas married Elizabeth Bailey in 1895.[4] The ceremony was performed on July 9th in Sandbach Heath, Cheshire, at St John.[5] (Note...The Marriage Bonds and Allegations for the Intended Marriage was dated July 6th. Elizabeth's age noted as nineteen).[6]
No definitive record for Thomas found post 1895.
