David Sherman, son of Abraham Sherman and Mary Chase, was born in Dartmouth, Bristol County, Province of Massachusetts Bay, 4 Dec 1764.[1] Settled by Europeans in about 1652 and named for the town of the same name in Devon, England, the town of Dartmouth hugs the southern coast of modern Massachusetts, bordered on the north by Fall River, east by New Bedford, west by Westport and south by Buzzard's Bay.[2]
He married Anna Tucker, daughter of Joseph and Mary Tucker of Dartmouth, on 29d 11m 1798.[3]
