The generation numbers from the Hundred Generation ahnentafel system that I devised in 2005 when Wikitree was still germinating are being revised. I moved generation 100 from the first one in the 20th century to the last specifically to sync generation 101 as the first of the new millennium and—by coincidence?—of Wikitree.

I found this site by accident while trying to link a woman to her parents on Find A Grave. This was the only accessible citation all the rest were behind a paid wall.
What a great idea this is. Im impressed by the concept, the honor code, the mission, & the developers sly sense of humor.
In 2004, I accidentally invented an ahnentafel system. I didnt know what one was, or that a traditional system had existed for 400 years. Intending to patent it, I thought about applications, started researching my own genealogy, & found a new passion that complemented my existing passion for history. I put ordinary people in historical context so theyre more than names & dates on a page. I research the news events they lived through and the history of their time & place. Then I write narratives.
